ABSTRACT
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the main cause of death worldwide. Increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) may be a unifying mechanism in CVD progression. ROS are produced continuously in cells as by-products of metabolism. Plants are naturally loaded with distinctive secondary metabolites, which have the potential to defuse the harmful molecules or reactive oxygen species. High altitude medicinal plants are used worldwide in both traditional and Western medicine systems.  Rhododendron arboreum is a high altitude plant with promising aesthetic, medicinal and pharmacological properties. The wide range of phytochemicals present in Rhododendron helps in curbing oxidants and subsequently cardiovascular diseases.
